The Bijbelgemeente Venray is led by a leadership team of elders, supported by two deacons: the treasurer and the secretary. The elders are chosen by and from the members of the congregation for a 4-year period.
Aims and vision:
The congregation aims to:
- Be an evangelical church in Venray and surroundings;
- Take care of each other;
- Introduce Jesus Christ to people who don’t know Him yet;
- Bring up the congregation to spiritual maturity, so that the congregation is able and willing to serve;
- Glorify God together in our gatherings.
The vision of the congregation is that people individually and the society as a whole will discover the purpose of life through knowing and acknowledging God as creator of heaven and earth. Furthermore, individuals and society will find joy and inner peace in the relationship with God. God reveals himself through his Word, the Bible.
The open services are at the heart of the congregation. The services are held on Sunday mornings in a building called the Blokhut, starting at 10h00. After the gathering, which includes time for singing and praying together, and listening to a speaker, there is the opportunity to socialize and drink coffee/tea. The leadership team supervises the various activities and is accountable for these activities.
From October 1st, 2020 onwards, the Bijbelgemeente Venray employs a paid consultant who is available 2 days per week. Local volunteers do not receive payment. The speakers on Sunday mornings receive a remuneration and travel cost compensation. Height of the remuneration varies depending on whether speaking is the person’s profession (e.g., a pastor) or that the person has a regular job next to speaking in services. Speakers from our own congregation and members who fulfill tasks do not receive financial rewards for their work.
Account of the activities
Every Sunday morning at 10:00h, an open service is held (if possible, depending on the measures against the spread of the Corona virus). Next to that, special services are held on christian holidays.
In season 2019-2020: meetings (partially online) with a number of plenary thematic bible study evenings.
Bible study groups (Boxmeer, Vortum-Mullem, Horst-America).
Twice a year a general member’s meeting.
Initiatives to support Dutch society (collection activities for the local “food bank”), development aid (collection for Dorcas), support of asylum seekers and proclamation of the gospel overseas (mission)
Our church congregation provides itself with the necessary financial means to bear the costs of the (public) activities. Bijbelgemeente Venray does not receive subsidies. The financial state of the congregation is accounted for to the members and frequent visitors of the congregation once per year. When means would dry out, this group would be requested to supply necessary means.
The costs mainly comprise of the rent of the meeting room, payment of speakers, and support of people and activities in the domains of care, development aid and proclamation of the gospel.
Short state of income and expenses including brief explanations
|Donations and collections||€||20.782|
|Rent of meeting rooms||€||3.071|
|Consultant (started 1 Oct)||€||6.417|
|Contribution to overarching denomination||€||227|
|Development aid and mission||€||3.480|
|Website, bank costs en secretariat||€||360|
Due to Covid-19, fewer activities took place and this led to a reduction in expenses. As a result, the year 2020 was closed off with a positive balance of € 1.568. This sum was added to the reserve.
Budget for 2021
|Donations and collections||€||20.500|
|Rent of meeting rooms||€||3.000|
|Contribution to overarching denomination||€||450|
|Development aid and mission||€||2.480|
|Website, bank costs and secretariat||€||250|
We expect the income to over 2021 to be comparable to 2020. The salary of the consultant is calculated over the whole year of 2021. We expect a shortage in the 2021 budget of about € 12.000. This is somewhat more positive than we had expected when we, as a congregation, decided to search for a consultant / pastoral worker.
